Slime Mold

Similar to powdery mildew, slime mold coats grass blades with a powdery covering. Usually, slime molds are found on the soil, but as they reproduce, they extend up to the grass blades and form powdery balls of spores that attach themselves to the grass blades. Symptoms may appear any time during the growing season following heavy rains or watering. In most cases, control is not necessary because the slime mold does not permanently damage lawns. Homeowners can hose off the mods with a strong stream of water or sweep the infected areas with a broom.
